1. Who we are
Waterwheel Village is an online English-learning service operated by The Hakso English School Oy, a company registered in Finland ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the service you ("you") enter into a contract with The Hakso English School Oy on these terms.
2. Acceptance of terms
By accessing the service or continuing to use it after these terms are posted, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. You confirm that you are at least the age of legal capacity in your country (or have a parent's or guardian's consent).
3. The service
Waterwheel Village provides interactive chapters, vocabulary tools, voice playback, and chat-based practice with AI-powered villager characters. Chapter 1 is available without payment; further chapters are released gradually to active subscribers.
4. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Please give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service for any unlawful purpose, fraud, or spam;
- infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights;
- attempt to probe, scan, scrape, or interfere with the security of the service;
- upload malware or attempt to disrupt other users' use of the service;
- misuse the AI chat features to generate harmful, illegal, or hateful content, or to attempt to bypass safety filters.
6. AI-generated content
Conversations with villager characters are produced by AI language models. They may occasionally be inaccurate or unexpected, and should not be treated as professional advice. You are responsible for your own prompts and for how you use the responses. We may filter, restrict, or refuse outputs and may suspend accounts that misuse these features.
7. Payments and subscriptions
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com Market Ltd. Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer-service inquiries, handles billing, taxes, and returns. Payment, billing, cancellation, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms in addition to these terms.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through paddle.net or by contacting us; access continues until the end of the paid period.
8. Intellectual property
All content, software, characters, illustrations, audio, and branding on Waterwheel Village are owned by The Hakso English School Oy or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for personal, non-commercial learning. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or otherwise exploit the service or its content.
9. Service availability
We work hard to keep the service running smoothly, but we do not guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in every country. Features may change as we improve the product.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the service for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You may close your account at any time.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury where the law does not allow such limitation.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of Finland, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email. Continued use after the changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
